Comment:
Apparently, I’m the only voter in the state still not convinced the
state champion won’t (once again) come out of south Florida.

Others receiving votes: Boca Raton Community 6, Hillsborough 5, Okeechobee 2.

My ballot:
1. Armwood
2. Plant
3. Dwyer
4. Miami Washington
5. Eastside
6. Southeast
7. Fort Walton Beach
8. Tampa Bay Tech
9. Westwood
10. First Coast

Comment: Again, pretty similar. Notice Eastside is the highest ranked team from the north on both my ballot and the actual poll.

3. Naples
4. Andrew Jackson
5. Dunbar
6. Cocoa
7. Ridge Community
8. Godby
9. Nature Coast Tech
10. Lake Wales

Comment:
I think most of us media types statewide expect a Glades Central-St.
Augustine state title game. Don’t count out defending champ Naples,
however.

Class 2A
Record Pts Prv
1. Madison County (15) 7-0 150 1
2. Bolles School 8-0 135 2
3. South Sumter 8-1 118 3
4. North Broward 8-1 90 5
5. Fort White 7-1 89 4

Others receiving votes: Clewiston 6, Plantation American Heritage 6, Archbishop Carroll 6.

My ballot:
1. Madison County
2. Bolles
3. South Sumter
4. Fort White
5. North Broward

Comment:
Two Fridays ago Fort White loses to Madison County and stays ranked
fourth, but then blows out Hamilton County and drops a spot? Not on my
ballot.

Class 2B
Record Pts Prv
1. Pahokee (15) 7-1 150 1
2. Ocala Trinity Catholic 8-1 134 2
3. Frostproof 6-1 111 4
4. Fort Lauderdale University 8-0 97 5
5. Newberry 6-2 45 3

Others receiving votes: Florida 27, Trinity Christian-Jacksonville 24, Wildwood 12.

My ballot:
1. Pahokee
2. Trinity Catholic
3. Frostproof
4. University
5. Newberry

Comment:
Newberry coach Tommy Keeler seems to enjoy complaining about the media.
Dropping two spots after losing at the state’s No. 2 ranked team
probably is enough for another snide remark followed by a turn of the
back and 50-yard sprint without allowing a response.

Class 1A
Record Pts Prv
1. Fort Meade (14) 9-0 149 1
2. Lafayette (1) 8-0 136 2
3. Delray American Heritage 6-2 115 4
4. North Florida Christian 5-2 100 5
5. Indian Rocks 8-1 94 3

Others receiving votes: Providence 6.

My ballot:
1. Lafayette
2. Fort Meade
3. Delray Atlantic
4. NFC
5. Indian Rocks

Comment:
I’ve had Lafayette No. 1 the last few weeks. After Fort Meade beat
previous No. 3 Indian Rocks last week, I almost switched up my top two
teams. However, the Hornets didn’t do anything to lose the top slot, so
why punish them?

Class 1B
Record Pts Prv
1. Jupiter Christian (15) 8-0 150 1
T2. FAMU Developmental Research 6-3 126 3
T2. Warner Christian 7-1 126 2
4. Graceville 6-2 97 5
5. Deltona Trinity Christian 6-3 51 4

Others receiving votes: Victory Christian 44, Sheridan Hills Christian 6.

My ballot:
1. Jupiter Christian
2. FAMU
3. Warner Christian
4. Graceville
5. Victory Christian

Comment: I expect another FAMU-Jupiter Christian state title game.
