Pigskin postseason review

A look at the best and worst of the recently completed FHSAA state football championships.
Best team “ Miami Northwestern validated (with an exclamation point) its national No. 1 ranking with a 41-0 beatdown of previously unbeaten Orlando Boone in the 6A title game.
Biggest disappointment ” Has to be Boone, which toppled a very good Apopka squad in the state semis and faced a Northwestern team that had looked at least a little bit vulnerable, needing to come back in the final minute to beat Deerfield Beach a week earlier.
Matchup left longing for ” Despite being located in the same city, Northwestern and undefeated 4A champ Miami Washington (also top-10 nationally ranked team) did not play each other.
Best game ” Delray Beach American Heritage topped Tallahassee North Florida Christian, 31-28, in a 1A title contest that saw two plays make SportsCenter’s top 10 of the day.
Most classless moment ” Pahokee’s extremely talented cornerback/running back Janoris Jenkins walking down the handshake line with Newberry holding a sign that read “14-0 Undisputed” while taunting the brokenhearted Panthers. Urban ain’t gonna put up with that junk, JJ.
Biggest upset ” If Jupiter Christian and Tallahassee FAMU played 10 times, I’m not sure Jupiter would win twice. But after a 27-14 championship game win, it has its first 1B title.
Final overall top-5 ” 1. Northwestern, 2. Washington, 3. 2B champ Pahokee, 4. 5A champ Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, 5. (tie) 2A champ Madison County & 3A champ Naples.
