I’m going to miss Tony Wise.
Now, he can officially be called Gainesville High School’s former boys basketball coach, and soon, he and his family will be moving to Dothan, Ala., where his wife was offered a can’t-turn-down job.
It’s a shame his final game with the Hurricanes ” a 61-38 loss to Fort Lauderdale Dillard in the FHSAA Class 5A state semifinals ” couldn’t have gone a little better. Wise deserved …

In the mid 1980s Florida high school basketball joined the colleges in catching up with the pros by implementing a 3-point shot.
There are still a few differences like the college court being a little larger and colleges playing 20-minute halves versus 8-minute quarters. However, the biggest difference in Florida is probably the lack of a shot clock at the prep level.
