Two-a-days are finished (for us, too) and preseason games take place
this week. Those of you interested in getting a few information fixes,
here are a couple of ideas.
First, purchase Varsity Sports Media’s Florida Football magazine. Corey Long, Larry Blustein and Co., once again have put together the most comprehensive look at high school football in the state.
It also previews all of Florida’s college and pro football teams, and gives readers Larry’s picks on who will play for state championships.

When discussing this year’s Columbia High School football team, the prevailing opinion statewide is the Tigers will be quite good this year, but really watch out in 2009.
The reasons?
First, led by junior running back Tiger Powell, junior linebacker Brach Bessant and sophomore defensive lineman Timmy Jernigan, CHS has a trio of underclassman studs who should be ranked on numerous national recruiting lists. We hosted 26 area football teams for The Sun’s second
annual media days on July 29-31, and there were a lot of fun stories that came out
